Q: Can you share with us what made you decide to have a career in Real Estate?
NC:
I studied International Business and Marketing at Eastern Michigan University. I’ve been an entrepreneur since I was 12 years old. I understood that all my parent’s friends that were doing very well all had Real Estate in their investment portfolios. And so, who doesn’t want to do well?

Q: How long have you been active in Real Estate?
NC:
Eight years since I first became licensed.

Q: Obviously with Covid-19 there’s a lot of changes going on in the world … what changes have you seen that you feel will remain in Real Estate? Do you think there will be more changes?
NC:
More tech and virtual ways to get deals done. The more “push” transactions are expected.

Q: Do you specialize in certain types of properties?
NC:
I work with a diversified clientele. I specialize in getting my clients what they want.

Q: Can you share with our audience what Buyers & Sellers can expect when they work with you?
NC:
My clients realize a concierge, consultative service, caring and straight-forward, aggressive, elevated professional experience focused on getting clients what they want.

Q: How do you help buyers compete in a tight market?
NC:
By being brutally honest about what it takes to win bids to buy or attract buyers.

Q: What are two things that separate you from other agents?
NC:
I’ll give three: My extensive networks, personal style, and unrelenting fortitude.

Q: Do you work with both buyers and sellers?
NC:
I do, as well as developers, government entities, and organizations/businesses.

Q: How has technology changed the Real Estate industry over the years?
NC:
It has given us the information and ability to get things done w/out being right in front of each other but still very connected. I’d like to add that technology has been available we were just forced to reach for it. I think it’s a distinct advantage to our and our client’s success for us to remain astutely attuned to what next in tech.

Q: What do you think are the ingredients that keep you as a top Realtor year after year?
NC:
Never being complacent, keeping up with and predicting industry trends, creating systems, and seeking help from experts in analogous professions.

Q: If we interviewed all your past clients … what is one common word that comes up when they describe working with you?
NC:
Grounded and Fierce

Q: What's the greatest fear you've had to overcome to get where you are today?
NC:
Fear in general. It’s only a by-product of ignorance in my opinion, so I focus on continuous information and application of new information.

Q: Can you tell our audience one of your most memorable moments your career?
NC:
Being voted in as a Commissioner (Real Estate) in this illustrious, hard-working city of Detroit and Wayne County.

Q: What’s one lesson you’ve learned in your career that you can share with our audience?
NC:
You are your only competition. Staying focused on what you’re doing regardless of where others are or say you should be is the only way to be highly successful in my book.

Q: Which woman inspires you and why?
NC:
My mother, my sisters, my girlfriends, my daughters, me. Women in general, The woman who can pick herself up and still handle her responsibilities as a mother, entrepreneur, stay at home mom, community member, 9-5 worker, blue-collar worker, executive and still get her eyeliner and lipstick on. There’s so much responsibility in being a woman that any woman who gets up and finds the reason to dress, put on makeup, smile, be kind to others, focus on her goals, make sure everyone is taken care of and remembers to strive for a moment of self-care is inspirational to me.

Q: What are some of the challenges you feel women face today?
NC:
Other’s expectations and/or limitations and lack of understanding of the strength in saying, “no” as a complete sentence.

Q: What advice would you give to young women who want to succeed in the workplace?
NC:
Be laser focused, unapologetic, fierce, and creatively you no matter what you do with respect to the culture.

Q: After high school, where did you feel your career path would take you?
NC:
The business of Fashion.

Q: Can you tell us how you manage your work life balance?
NC:
As a smart woman once told me: It’s a myth - Work- Life balance… As an entrepreneur it is not realistic when you must work all the time. However, you have to be honest with your family and with yourself. The great thing about being an entrepreneur is you can decide to take a “lighter” day and work from a beach, or “book” yourself out for a whole day/afternoon as unavailable to be with family/handle personal business.
